SHER NAWAZ
Peacebuilding and Conflict Resolution Expert
Sher has over 15 years of experience in leading and managing developmental, humanitarian and peace building initiatives in multiple countries. In his previous assignments, Sher has worked in Pakistan, Philippines, South Sudan, Kenya, Sudan, Tanzania and most recently in Nigeria for addressing the needs of communities affected by conflicts and insecurity Since late 2017, Sher has been working in Nigeria initially as Head of Program for Norwegian Refugee Council in Nigeria and now as Country Director for Search for Common ground (2019 onwards). Being familiar with Nigerian context; Sher brings with him a deeper understanding of the drivers of conflict along with an awareness of opportunities to achieve lasting peace in Nigeria. In his previous role as Director of Program with Save the Children, Sher has been involved in leading and implementing transformative intervention in some of the world’s most insecure environments including Pakistan, South Sudan and Sudan. Beyond professional affiliations, Sher looks at himself as a global activist for democracy, peace, humanitarian principles driven, human rights and non-violence. He is a well-known motivational speaker for young audience with a focus on enabling the youth to positively utilize their untapped potential for resolving personal and communal constraints. Sher is also an Alumni of a US Department of State sponsored short term initiative for student leaders from department of political science at Southern Illinois University, Carbondale. Sher has done Masters in Business Administration with a focus on Marketing and Financial Management.
