As a country, we have a crisis on our hands and unfortunately, we continue to ignore it, we keep addressing threats with violence of which we maybe creating a cycle that may continue into the next generation. policies that address the needs of the next perpetrators of violence should be formulated so as to ensure reintegration back into the society. Children are being exposed to violence everyday thus desensitizing them to violence and we need to protect them because we are responsible for whatever happens. Florence Kayemba is a journalist, development communications specialist, program manager and researcher on security issues. Her primary interests are in preventing and countering violent extremism, terrorism and mass atrocities, which also include processes of disarmament, demobilisation and reintegration (DDR), transitional justice, children and armed conflict and also security sector reforms in sub-Saharan Africa and the Middle East. She is a Harvard -trained leader and organiser with close to 20 years professional experience in the media and development sector in East and West Africa. Florence is currently the Programme Manager at Stakeholder Democracy Network (SDN), an international non-profit organisation with offices in London and Port Harcourt. She holds an MSc in Security, Conflict and International Development from the University of Leicester.
